Owning your Identity

The power of your 2nd chakra, Owning your identity

The 2nd chakra represents either side of the spectrum, pain or pleasure. It is linked to lack and scarcity or abundance and prosperity. It represents your identity within the world and your relationship to the resources that nourish and nurture, money, food and sex.

It is often modeled, imprinted and developed based on your family systems, their beliefs habits and patterns.

Where lack and scarcity bring upon fear of unworthy, neediness, not enough, hiding, self judgment, hopeless, and a host negative feelings and emotions.

Abundance and prosperity brings with it clarity, focus, a sense of peace, trust and more than enough. It speaks of owning your own identity around your basic needs, money, food, sex.

These 2 sides of the spectrum are designed to have movement~ e-motion, energy in motion. Therefore when you are caught in the current, the flow of emotions you can see, feel and turn your emotions into a powerful transformer of circumstances. Where there was lack and scarcity, identify the relationship, the trigger, the point you feel and how you describe the feeling. From here, begin a process to redefine the feeling. Confront fears, the basis for holding negative feelings and emotions. Take actions that challenge you, scare you and trust, that transforms your feeling quick, it’s an accomplishment, and says yes I can and I do.

Abundance and prosperity is meant to be shared. It’s meant to flow, that’s the true nature of the 2nd chakra when healthy and balanced. You flow, your resources flow freely meaning no negative charge to hold them stuck and stagnant.

2nd chakra is how we relate to our emotions and feelings and how we can flow in the world, our resources and relationships. If you find you get a bit stuck or unsure, find trust, step forward, find pleasure and joy and act. Often the simplicity of giving gets you unstuck. Giving from a positive emotion, no attachment, this is what it means to give freely, non attachment.

Learning to navigate your 2nd chakra will give you a plan of action. It identifies your feelings and emotions and directs you, without attachment, to where to transform and shift your interaction and energy. Energy meaning thoughts, feelings and actions, your beliefs. Once again, often the beliefs were planted by family patterns. As you look, and see, as you decide you want a different outcome, feeling, belief you begin to feel and act from that place.

It begins with giving. With opening up your heart, with finding trust in yourself and freely giving with passion and self love.

It’s where you own your identity. Who you are in the world

It’s a beautiful chakra to have spinning and moving healthy and clear. Enjoy the process

Non Attachment

It’s very simple to speak and say, well detach from it- hold no attachment, it’s another thing to actually be able to apply this skill set.

Non-attachment at its foundation holds you in faith, strength, courage and trust.  It’s a magical place to stand. What occurs in order to be in non- attachment is a power from within and without so strong, there is nothing to stand in your way of the desired outcome.

Now, for many people the idea of detaching, brings up the exact issue that creates the attachment. So for example, fear of money- has people afraid of letting go, releasing, give of money. Fear of safety and security has people holding onto things, homes, people, money because of the feelings and emotions that are associated with the idea of losing safety and security.

These are the real issues, programming and patterns to clear- to find a sense of peace, clarity and freedom.

So how does one go about doing this?

First, identify what the fear is?  I mean look at the fear- not judge it, or label it, just look at what brings up fear- loss of what?  Now once you have identified the fear, be present with it. No action required. No emotions required.  Go about your living, and begin to notice each time a thought, feeling, emotion or experience comes up and triggers this fear. Good.  All you are set to do here is identify it and observe as it comes up.

Now that you know what brings up the fear, you see the trigger. Be patient.  What often is a thorn in the side with non- attachment is the fighting, the grip, the will, and determination to change something to get out of the pain, chaos, trauma.  This holds a charge and power.  Patience is the salve to igniting the trigger.  With patience you can defuse the charge.  Stay in patience. Center, breath, and find stillness.  These are a new experience.  This begin to settle the ground beneath you, the one that shakes everytime the trigger blows up.

What your next step here is to look for what you want.  What experiences feelings emotions and outcomes do you want.  No- attachment, just what are they.  Then ask youself why these triggers affect you.  Why at this point in your life are you being triggered by something that occurred when you were a child and what truth do they hold now? What traumas were there, what chaos erupted, what pain, saddness, vicitimization and lack or scarcity did you see or were exposed to.

Here is where you my love must show up in your power.  If you saw witnessed or experienced a trauma, you most likely did everything you could to protect yourself and overcome it.  Settle in to this with me.  Look around you.  Do you have the love, security, safety, money, food and relationship (whether with yourself or a partner) you desire.  Did you create the environment now as an adult you needed to get yourself out of the situation or circumstance that held you in pain, chaos and trauma?

I bet you did.

So now, the body, your emotions are still running the program.  They are being triggered by the patterns that show up in your life.  See you did a great job remove and growing from the experience physically, yet emotionally those wounds must be released- non- attachment, for you to truly be free.

You’re essentially still holding the fear pattern within through your thoughts actions and behaviors.  Now, non-attachment will ask of you to step into courage, to be the adult, the responsible adult you were always looking for to show up, to step in and take action, to protect you through creating a safe space.  This space gives your emotions, feelings and inner child, inner feminine a space to be safe.  In this safety you have the freedom to be, to express yourself, your truth- to feel to speak to be heard seen and validated.  You are given the space to open and let go, relax and find peace.  This continues to evolve into non-attachment.  That’s right, you are no longer attached to the story or the way others, adults in your life, showed up projecting and intimidating their issues on you.

You find a new sense of peace joy and happiness.  It is here you are free.

Your emotions hold the power to transform your life, are you ready.

Willingness. What Are You Willing to Do?

Willingness is the ability to say yes to yourself. It is the doorway to possibilities.

What do I mean?

In order to go after what it is you want, in order to create changes and change the course of your life, you are going to have to be willing. I don’t use those words often, “have to”. What I know for sure is, if what you are doing is not making you happy or going in the direction you want it to go in, you will have to change your course of action.

Let’s begin with your resources, your money, time and energy. You will need to, have a willingness to place your money, time and energy towards that which you want. Your willingness shows that you desire the changes. Willingness has no attachment. It is an energy that shows up as yes, this is what I want. Willingness speaks of your ability to let go, vulnerability and openness. This is the path to change.

So what are you willing to Do? Often when you get deep in the chaos turmoil, stuckness, or pain, getting out takes a greater commitment, a greater need to settle, create a plan and act, again a willingness to let go of the story and problem and find a solution, this is willingness.

Most people are held back by their inability to be willing, to have courage, to find faith to act from self trust. Think about this. Do you want to be like and considered most people, or do you believe in yourself that you are capable of making the changes necessary to have what you want.

This is a conscious choice, a decision made based on your own self confidence, no one can or will do it for you.

Willingness may go against everything you were taught and believe, and that is what courage is about. Standing up for what you believe in and speaking up. Courage is not tied to outer resources.

This is where most people lose their willingness. Once you begin to talk about money, time, or energy, people shut down, disconnect or turn off. Willingness flies out the window. Willingness, has no attachment, so once again, it opens the conversation to something new and it understands in this new, in a new direction it will take, money, time and energy.

What are you willing to Do? What is something new you are ready to step into that points you in the direction of your dreams, goals, vision and desires?

Creating changes can be challenging, we tend to be programmed pretty good as to what we believe is right or wrong, truth or not truth and what is important.

Willingness breaks through these barriers.

What changes are you looking to create in your life now?

Internal ambition, your blueprint for success

Award_adaptive_768

Internal ambition and external ambition

Ambition, when directed for growth, an increase in life, can be either directed from a point of influence of internal ambition or external ambition.  The strongest, best gift you can give yourself, your children, your co-workers, employees and team members is your own sense of internal ambition.

Internal ambition is fueled by your own sense of commitment, discipline, creativity, self expression and true joy for setting your sights on a goal and striving.  It’s cultivated through a practice of focus, and belief in ones self.  Internal ambition builds leadership. You see, we are built to strive for more. We are built to trust in our gifts, our desires and chart a course to move us forward.

External ambition is doing things for the sake of getting something in return. It is based on having to do something, or just doing something because of what you get. There may be a lack of passion, or a need to get something, without a sincere joy for the task at hand.  With external ambition you can sense more stress or fears, negatives, even though the goal and outcome to attain is positive.

The true beauty in internal ambition is to see what you are made of.

I believe it’s essential for people to have goals that stretch them to grow. A feeling, a desire of accomplishing something that lights your soul on fire. And, I believe having the right people around to support you in this internal ambition is a non-negotiable.  You see, what I love about internal ambition is the way you create changes in your life, that ask you to show up, to feel and check into your heart.  As I mentioned above, having goals, desires and striving to add value to your life, brings you through new tasks, taking on new activities, and facing challenges, that once held you back, small or feeling powerless. The feeling you receive from the accomplishment, that is the ultimate reward. You gain confidence and self esteem, priceless accolades for yourself that no one gave to you, you earned it through your commitment, desire and hard work.

External ambition has a focus on the outcome whether it be for money, status, title, or recognition. None of these are bad or wrong, there is just not as much sustenance in the reward.

The feeling of success comes through the work, the practice, belief in self, it is earned by your self.

Internal ambition capitalizes on what you want to achieve. It may ask of you to risk.  To take a chance on something that is intangible, yet with hard work, focus and discipline you will achieve. Driven by passion, embraced by your heart and spirit, taking your time, small actionable steps soon become bigger bolder moves that say, yes, I just accomplished that on the way to my goal adding to your pocket of gold.

As the year comes to a close, take some time to focus on what you want to achieve in the new year. Something that comes from your heart, a little crazy or risky, that makes your heart sing. Listen for your internal ambition, the why you want it and how it makes you feel. Listen. Feel.

Dig into your untapped treasure chest of desires, and just believe, internal ambition will be the light to move you forward.

Embraced by a larger love, moving from ambition to meaning

Bacons-stained-glass-window-4-largeMoving from ambition to meaning

There comes a point in your life, whether you stop and wonder,  look around you questioning what you have and what you’re doing, or just recognize and acknowledge your life is not everything you want. I’m talking about want from an inner perspective. You see all the things you’ve acquired, the degrees earned, titles held, the way you spend your time energy and money, really hold no meaning to you.  They’re not aligned with your true values. Once you reach this level of consciousness, a whole new world opens up to you, literally and figuratively.

This consciousness brings with it a new level of risk. A risk where you begin trusting in the unseen, you become the observer, peeling back the layers that once held power over you.  It requires humility, compassion and most importantly, self love. This level of risk is a vulnerability to the aspects of your life that you built which held meaning and power to you and for the life you built.

Moving to meaning.  In this new choice, meaning is everything that you value from your heart, body and mind.  It asks for you to listen to the message within your heart, feeling the truth in your body which sets you free.  The feeling of ease, simplicity, grace and flow. It asks your mind to let go, release and surrender to the opening.  It’s only through the crack in the darkness can the light enter.  Like stained glass windows and décor, the effects of the light, sunlight reflecting light can your true beauty shine.  This is your journey through the darkness into the light, where your sense of identity is broken- you transcend into the next phase of your growth. Your truth. Where things hold no meaning over you.

Where you claim your power. The power you hold within, to make conscious choices and decisions, to act from faith and belief in yourself, and to stand your ground for what you believe in.

Empowerment. The true gift in empowerment is you choose where you invest ( I choose not to use the word spend here), your time, energy and money.  When you are empowered the choices you make with your resources, time, energy and money, will add increase to your life and to those you touch.  The resources exchanged will be an asset on both sides, adding to growth.

Let me elaborate.  In ambition, you are looking to get a bigger home, a fancier car, a better body, more of the external with the spending of your resources to get something that you believe will make you have or feel a certain way.  Moving to meaning, you decide to invest your money in a home that makes you feel safe, secure and provides you a temple, a sanctuary to rest your head.  It may still be a big home, yet the meaning behind it is what it provides you.  In that safety and security you make better choices and decisions.  When in meaning, rather than complaining about how much the fitness program costs, the gym, private training, the fresh foods, the time it takes to workout, being to busy, not having any energy, you decide to look at the overall lifestyle of having health, you recognize the investment you are making towards your health which will pay generously as you grow and mature.  You are consciously investing in your health today, so later you’re not at the mercy of the Dr.s and medical system.  In ambition you are looking for doing it all, showing up for everyone.  You want to be seen as successful, only doing it all leaves you unfulfilled on the inside.  In meaning you leave that all behind.  You choose to say, “what makes me happy.  What can I do to be of service that gives to me that which I give to others?”  You decide to find peace, grounding and stability in trusting yourself, your gifts, your OWN INHERENT WORTH, which has nothing to do with a title, money or status.  In this you find Freedom.

You Thrive.

While in meaning you choose habits, patterns, places and experiences that nourish you.  You choose to leave the realm of excuses, problems and difficulties to stand in your place of power in the realm of solutions, gratitude, trust, compassion, and the present moment, a consciousness of richness found within that supersedes anything external.

It is here, You give meaning to your greatest gifts, your values, and power flow through you, from a place of love.

More Self Love, less tough Love

Nourishing Your Roots and Finding Fulfillment

Body Mind Spirit

woman-field

As a Fitness & Lifestyle Expert, looking through the lens of health and wellness, I see many women struggle with finding the necessary movement, nutrition and lifestyle practices that nourish who they are. With so much information out there about which exercise program to do, what type of cardio exercise and how intense it must be, to nutrition plans that can be seen as rigid and a daunting task.

I’m here as an advocate; nourish your roots, and find fulfillment body mind spirit.

Your roots are made up of your beliefs, habits, thoughts, feelings, emotions, environment and lifestyle choices.

Often times, when women struggle with weight and body issues, they are rooted through family beliefs, labels you took on, and ways your environment has reflected back to you. Often time, they are not based in compassion, love, and most importantly truth.

Women, for so long have been judged based on their bodies, and this does nothing for the Truth of who she is and the beauty of her Spirit.

What this has caused, is women of all ages to stifle her true feelings and emotions. To hide the hurt, pain, shame and guilt she has taken on because of her belief of her body.

There is a coldness, a hurt so deep, that it becomes unbearable, so she shuts down her own true feelings.

What I have found time and time again, it’s not specifically the food, nutrition, or movement that interferes with a woman and her body. It’s a deeper emotional connection, or really lack of deep connection within themselves and with others. Her own sense of security with who she is as a woman.

Emotions and feelings hold the power to Free YOU.

Committing to a practice redefining your beliefs, taking inspired action, and leaning into your deep wounds of pain, shame, hurt and guilt to let them go. This is the place where you “stuff down” your feelings, “comfort yourself”, mainly, because it’s the only way you know how. This was put into place long before you were a grown woman.

The first thing every woman needs is a safe space to express her true self. Some place or someone who can see her, hear her and recognize her bright Spirit.

Your emotions and feelings are the essence of your Spirit, the seat of your soul, it’s how you relate to your inner world which creates your outer world.

Here is a list of 5 Practices to put into place to Nourish Your Roots and Find Fulfillment

 1. Alone time, with your thoughts feelings and emotions. Give yourself permission to be with your thoughts, feelings and emotions around your body, your weight and self image. Find within yourself the ability to comfort yourself, sooth yourself with being present and engaged with your true feelings. This means practice, self love, compassion, non-judgment and allowing (see my blog post on the practice of allowing). Often times, it’s the chatter, and chaos of the mind which holds the limitations. What happens here, is you soften. You open, you allow a new, more truthful and passionate feeling to bubble up. This is the beginning of letting go of the old ways, and gives you the grounds to build your new foundation, Body, Mind, Spirit.

2. Find a movement practice that inspires you. Now, movement is not for the idea of losing weight or putting your body under stress of “a workout”. This type of movement practice I’m encouraging is to turn off your active mind, tune into your emotions, feelings and listen from within, having the movement inspire your actions. Maybe a walk in nature, a stretch class, a yoga class, a dance class, a walk on the beach, even walking on the treadmill. Allow the movement to inspire you, to free your mind. Breathe, take in the opportunity to be present and begin anew. This is where great transformation happens.

3. Find community that supports you. Finding like minded women and men that enjoy and can relate to the values you relate to. This is pivotal. A community such as Church, Temple, Gym, Studio, Organizations of Philanthropy and Giving. An essential aspect of community is that there is no judgment AND, they believe in the power of community to create change. Something to be mindful of here, this is not a support group. It’s not meant to rehash or go over the problem and issue. Quite the opposite. They hold you high and know your potential, encourage you to grow and take inspired action to create the changes you desire.

4. Cultivating Joy in your life. Joy is a powerful emotion. Joy, has the capability to empower you in any situation under any circumstance. Make it simple. Learn to tap into and lean on your Joy. Now, Joy is initiated through your senses, smell, taste, touch, sight, feel. You must allow Joy to flow through you. Let’s say, when you have a plate of food, allow your sense to turn on and tune in. Uncover your Joy in the meal. Other ways to cultivate Joy, essential oils, time in an art museum, a bubble bath, a glass of wine, quiet time with a cup of coffee, the feel of something soft, putting on something that makes you feel beautiful, listening to soothing music, watching a sunset, anything that inspires your senses. Listen to the true nature of your heart and soul.

5. Let Go. Let go of people, places and things that no longer nourish your Spirit. Letting Go is an act of Faith. Not a religious faith, a Faith in believing in the Power you do have. The power you have over food, the power you have over your current circumstances and the power you have to move forward. Letting go is an act of courage and strength. In order to make peace with your body, with food, and self image, you must let go of everything which created the circumstance and beliefs in the first place. It’s a surrender an acceptance of where you are. It’s in this space you decide to see things different and take the necessary steps to create a new outcome. This is where you build your practice from 1-4 to match what you desire, the body and relationship with your body the way you want.

These 5 steps, when put into a personal practice can transform any situation. The recognition that your environment, beliefs, thoughts, actions and lifestyle affect you on a very deep and personal level AND can be changed.

When you nourish your roots, the core of who you are, you allow yourself the gift of transformation.

And it’s this gift, the simple practices that open you, that touch your soul so deeply, richly and fulfilling you unfold, removing the cocoon and spreading your wings to fly.
